Can anybody help me with this:

My Grandparents, (Mums side), lived at 26 Ernest Street which was renamed Canon Murnane Road sometime around 1937. This road used to run from Alscot Road to Grange Road. It is now Spa Park. On the corner of Ernest Street and Grange Road there used to be a pub called The Tanners, ( 'cos of all the tanneries in the area).

My Aunt, who still lives in Spa Road, has told me that there were photos taken of all the old householders in their doorways. These photos were stored in the old Spa Road Library.

Does anybody know where they are now?

Tony, I'd suggest trying the Southwark Local Studies Library, ot the Picture Library opposite the Mayflower.

These photos would have been held at the John Harvard Local History Library at the Borough, but as this is being replenished as we speak all their records are held at Peckham Library in the local history section.  Library not open on a wednesday

.  I though the pub you were talking about was called the Sydney arms.  I remember that it was on the entrance to the park ( not there now, they have moved it) and I thought it waas called sydney street

Hi Tony, I believe your nan was my grandad's sister. They too lived in Ernest Street before marrying and also lived in Canon Murnane Road. The pub was the Tanners and I remember sitting outside with my sisters and a packet of crisps.

Unfortunately I can't help with the photos. I'm also reseaching my grandad's family Vallance, and while looking for Canon Murnane Road I came across your name and just wanted to say hi.

Hi my GGGrandmother, (Charlotte) Sophia Jutsum/Moore lived at 32 Ernest St. She was a coal merchant. Her Austen grandchildren were born there 1900/1920s. I have a family tree made by Bertrum Austen and Bob Vallance. Are we related?

Thanks, Shirley
