Hello Paperboy,thanks for the reply.I can see where you are now..Im afraid that i do not recognise the Families that you mention ,probably because i am older than yourself.The Barnes live in the Block behind the Butchers(Mcarthies)i think.As one of my Friends married the Butchers Daughter,Pauline,they now live in St james road opposite Greens the Flower Shop.I like your references to tthe Luftwaffe,i lived in Major Road.Off Jamaica Road,and we sat out the Blitz in our Anderson Shelter,which was a bit harrowing to say the least.We had a few scrapes,but were very lucky.I like the picture of the Thames from Cherry Garden Pier,as i spent half of my Childhood on the Foreshore underneath the Footbridge.I have three children that still live in Millpond Estate,next to the Pier,so its always in mind....They have almost finished "The Knowledge",not much they do not know about London.....Hard work for three years,so i hope it pays off..I would like a Copy of the Picture,and my E-Mail is :killickp@aol.com....Regarding the Spa Bakers,there always seemed to be a long Queue,i had to wait ages for a warm loaf,but it was worth it.We used to know the Fish Shop as "Franks",during the War you had to take your own Newspaper to get served,and the Corner where the Pawnshop was,is where we used to stand(Doing nothing)and talk about what we were going to do one day !!!.I worked on the River until i went into the Army,Hays Wharf,Mark Browns,Wilsons,Symonds,in fact most of them.And loved it.I live in Sidcup,and have done since 1970......but i am Still a Bermondsey Boy lolol.Regards.Bill Killick.

Hi,i meant to ask if you knew the Barnes Family that lived in Vauban Estate.Three Boys,Ronnie,Billy and Johnny.They lived in the block behind the Shops in Spa Road.Oh asnd Lilley and Connie Brown..

hello Paperboy...i wonder...could you tell me whereabouts the Prefabs were in St James Road,and what the Big Square Tower thing is in the picture.I cant quite place them.Or Remember them,one of the two.CHeers...Bill Killick.
